Blackburn Akers, Sr., Revolutionary Soldier #52ancestors

Blackburn Akers, Sr. is my 6th Great Grandfather. 
Blackburn Akers, Sr. was born about 1735 in Virginia and died about 1799 in Buckingham County, Virginia. He was the son of William Akers and Susannah Blackburn. He married Elizabeth Blackburn. She was the daughter of John and Elizabeth Blackburn.
He was sworn to the American cause on 13 Sep 1777 in Montgomery Co VA, and served in the militia in 1781 in Montgomery Co VA. He was placed on the unfit-for-duty list of the militia company of Captain Daniel Trigg, indicating he was 50 or more years of age.
Blackburn's life can be traced through many documents. He was a witness to the will of John Mossum on 7 Oct 1754 in Cumberland Co VA [Will book 1, page 97, 7 Oct 1754.]. He was on the tithe list in 1764 in Buckingham Co VA. He was shown with one tithe, 245 acres of land and no wheel carriages. He was tithed in 1771 in Botetourt Co VA. His land on the head of Little River later became part of Fincastle and then Montgomery Co VA.
He was shown on the personal property tax list in 1782 in Montgomery Co VA. He had one tithe and eight cattle He was shown on the land tax list in 1782 in Montgomery Co VA. He was assessed with a tax of one shilling sixpence for twenty acres, value seven pounds, ten shillings
He was entered in court documents on 17 Oct 1787 in Montgomery Co VA. "In the matter of Walter Crockett vs. Blackburn Akers et al. Blackburn Akers and John Bishop held & bound unto Walter Crockett, Sheriff, thesum of 12 lb 11 shillings. (This stems from a suit of John Plank vs.estate of Blackburn Akers for the sum of 6 lb 5 shilling 6 pence. Notewas signed by Blackburn Akers and John Bishop. Jno. Bishop signed in German. Witnessed by Marthy Akers and Nancy Akers." He was entered in court documents on 4 Sep 1794 in Montgomery Co VA. "In the matter of William Hall vs Blackburn Akers.By acct. Blackburn Akers owes Hall 2 lb 12 shillings." He was entered in court documents in 1795 inMontgomery Co VA. "In the matter of Ingles & Russell vs Blackburn Akers for 5 lb damages & 7 lb 14 sh; to appear in ct. Dec 3, 1795." He was entered in court documents on 6 Nov 1795 in Montgomery Co VA."In the matter of John Van Lier (Lear) vs Blackburn Akers; 8 lb 16 sh & damage 5 lb owed on April 2, 1793." He was entered in court documents on 6 Apr 1796 in Montgomery Co VA. "In the matter of Geo.Taylor & Co. vs Blackburn Akers; note for 4 lb 6 shilling 1 penny for value rec'd. To appear in court Dec. 7, 1796." He was entered incourt documents on 12 Sep 1796 in Montgomery Co VA. "In the matter of John Van Lear vs Blackburn Akers et al; Owed 8 lb 16 sh & costs (et al was Samuel Merriday, who was on Blackburn's bond)." He was entered in court documents on 5 Oct 1797 in Montgomery Co VA. "In the matter of Ingles & Russell vs Blackburn Akers. Blackburn Akers owes 7 lbs 14shillings 5 pence & 5 lb damage. Note signed by Akers 29 Mar 1794 promised to pay 6 lb 17 shilling 4 pence on demand. This went on from 24 Mar 1794 to 1799. Many papers never served "for lack of time" and"for want of men". Note on back of one paper says "keep of by the force of arms". (kept off)."
Blackburn died about 1799 in Montgomery Co VA.Since he was summoned to appear at the 3 Oct 1799 term of theMontgomery Co VA court, he must have been living that summer. He doesnot appear on the personal property tax lists after 1798. He wasentered in court documents on 3 Oct 1799 in Montgomery Co VA."Summoned in the matter of Messenger Lewis vs Blackburn Acors for anote dated 11 May 1793 for 3 lb." He was entered in court documents1780, 1793 and 1795 in Montgomery Co VA. "In the matter of Herd'sExecs. vs Blackburn Akers; debtor to Mordecai Herd $3.00 for salt."
