Jones, Nichols, Prindles, Leonards, and Holdens: On the Trail of Bloodlines.

According to Genealogy.com and Ancestry.com , Ezekiel Jones married Elizabeth Prindle who was the daughter of William Prindle and Margaret Holden. Her sister Margaret married William Trail, and Margaret Holden was the daughter of Benjamin Holden and Abigail Leonard of Holden Beach, NC.  Ezekiel Jones was the grandfather of Ezekiel Nichols who was the son of John Nichols and Martha Ann Jones. William Prindle's first name may have been George and he may have been a descendant of the Pringle family of Scotland. Also, someone may have spelt Ezekiel's name as Ezekial....

It is also possible that Ezekiel S. Jones may be the grandson of Thomas Jones and Joanna Hill as they were all in Franklin County, Virginia at the time that Ezekiel was born.

Family History is full of What ifs and May Bes...

NOTES:

John Nichols was born in Bedford Va. and died in Floyd, Va.
Elizabeth Prindle was the d. of William Prindle and Margaret Holden. Her sister was named Margaret too. Naming children after their parents appears to be very common then.

Margaret Holden was the daughter of Benjamin Holden and Abigail Leonard

I BELIEVE WE MAY BE TALKING ABOUT TWO DIFFERENT ELIZABETH PRINDLE'S. MINE WAS BORN ABOUT 1805 AND DIED ABOUT 1860 IN FRANKLIN, VA. SHE MARRIED EZEKIAL S. JONES (1798 - 1879) IN MAR 1824 IN FRANKLIN, VA. THEY WERE THE PARENTS OF MARGARET JONES WHO MARRIED WILLIAM J. TRAIL IN MAY 1842.

MARRIAGE BONDS OF FRANKLIN COUNTY, VIRGINIA 1786-1858, PAGE 225, TRAIL, WM. AND MARGARET JONES, MAY 6, 1842. SUR. JEKIEL JONES, 68.

ELIZABETH MAY BE THE DAUGHTER OF GEORGE W. PRINDLE AND MARGARET HOLDEN - I AM STILL RESEARCHING THIS.
Swinfield Hill, the son of Robert Hill and Violet Linus was born in Franklin County. Swinfield married Martha.
His sister Joanna aka Johanna married Thomas Jones of Franklin. Thomas was the son of Robert Jones of Wales and Mary Van Meter.

http://genforum.genealogy.com/jones/messages/33051.html
http://swinfieldhill.com/
Thomas parents were Robert Jones, Jr. who was born about 1696 in Wales and Mary (Maria) J. Van Meter who was born before April 26, 1709 in Somerset Co., New Jersey. (Something seems a little strange about this info. Why is Thamas referred to as Thomas, Jr. - later?)
Joanna Hill, who married Thomas Jones, was a daughter of Robert Hill and Violet "Velie" Linus. The children and heirs of Robert Hill are identified in several Franklin County, Virginia, deeds. Swinfield Hill and wife Martha; Thomas Hill and wife Alinah; Thomas Jones and wife Joannah; David Barton and wife Hannah; and Bartlett Wade and wife Mary, heirs of Robert Hill to Walter Bernard, 330 acres for 500 pounds on 04 April 1787. On 02 July 1787 Violet Hill, widow; Swinfield Hill and Martha; Thomas Hill and Aley; David Barton and Hannah; Thomas Jones, Jr. and Anna; Walter Bernard and Ruth; and Bartlett Wade and Mary sold 12 1/3 acres in Henry County near Washington Iron Works to James Callaway for 130 pounds. Thomas Jones, son of Robert, probably was known as Thomas, Jr. to differentiate himself from his uncle Thomas Jones, Sr.
The birth dates of the children of Thomas Jones and Joanna Hill appear on the front cover and flyleaf of the Minute Book of the Pigg River Baptist Church in Franklin County, Virginia. The book covers the first hundred years of the church. It was in an excellent state of preservation and in the possession of Mr. Woodrow Wilson Abshire, Clerk of the Pigg River Association, Route 711 (off Route 221), Bent Mountain, VA, in 1978. The birth date of Joanna Hill Jones also was recorded in the Minute Book. The birth date of Thomas Jones appears in the Family Bible of William Jones, who married Betsy Hill, as do the death dates of Thomas and Joanna, and of three of their children, Robert, William and John:
Thomas Jonesb 05 Jul 1748 d 22 Mar 1830
Joanna Jonesb 24 Jan 1752 d 02 Mar 1833
Robert Jonesb 28 Jul 1772 d 23 Sep 1837
Abraham Jonesb 13 Apr 1774
William Jonesb 05 May 1776 d 11 Nov 1848
Ruth Jonesb 10 Jul 1778
John Jones b 20 Sep 1780 d 11 Nov 1832
Hannah Jonesb 13 Jun 1783
Isaac Jonesb 17 Aug 1785
Polly Jonesb 30 Jun 1787'
Violet Jones b 22 Jan 1792
***Could one of Thomas' children be the ancestor of Ezekiel S. Jones? Could the S stand for Swinfield?
William Cook, Jr., husband of Margaret Jones, was appointed as one of the appraisers of the estate of Robert Hill on 16 March 1778. After the death of William Cook, Jr. in Kentucky, his sons, Seth Cook and William Cook III of Woodford County, Kentucky, granted their power of attorney to Thomas Jones, Jr. on 01 October 1793 to sell a tract of land in Franklin County, Virginia. This substantiates the probability that their mother Margaret Jones Cook was a sister of Thomas Jones, who was known as Thomas Jones, Jr.

The Kings of King's Cove: John King of Weymouth, Mass. #52ancestors

"Seaman" John King of Weymouth came from England and settled in the part of Weymouth, Mass. known as King's Cove. His son, Phillip, was a Captain and an ancestor of George King who fought in the American Revolution....

"On 23 June, 1657, John King of Weymouth deposed before Thomas Danforth in Middlesex County Court in the case of Joshua Tead versus Richard Collicut. He stated that he was "about 57 years" of age and " that he was with Mr. Richard Colicut in Xenebeak River . . . " in May, 1656. (The Genealogical Advertiser, 1: 90-95.) This deposition gives his approximate age as born near 1600."
"John Humphrey came from Dorchester in the county of Dorset, which is six miles north from Weymouth, and it is likely that John and Mary King came from the same locality. Neither the marriage of John Humphrey nor that of John King is on record in the parish of Holy Trinity in Dorchester."

"John King, Sr., was a resident of Weymouth from 1639 to 1669. He married Mary -, who was his wife 2 Sept. 1640. (Lechford's Note-Book, 308.) He married (2), near 1647, widow Dorothy (Barker) Hunt, successively widow of - Barker and of Enoch Hunt of Weymouth... He married (3) at Weymouth, 14 Oct. 1658, Abigail (Hewes) Hatch, widow of William Hatch, Jr., of Scituate, and daughter of John Hewes of Scituate, 'theWelchman.'"

John King who settled prior to 1640 in that part of the town of Weymouth Massachusetts still known as King's Cove where he was on record as "seaman," "planter" and "goodman". He was of English birth and parentage and came to New England with John Humphrey deputy governor of the Massachusetts Colony.
Descent from him is followed through Philip King known as Captain Philip King of Taunton Massachusetts a man of influence in the community as proved by his impressive funeral with military honors. Captain Philip King won the friendship of the neighboring Indians to such a degree that he and his family were never molested thereby He married about 1680 Judith daughter of John Whitman of Milton Massachusetts and they were the parents of seven children...

John King, son of Captain Philip and Judith Whitman King, was born in Taunton Massachusetts in 1681 and died according to his graveyard inscription in 1741 in his 60th year.
