John Ezekiel Nichols - invisible ancestor. could he be the son of Elisha???

still no luck finding a connection between lt. john nichols b. 1720 MD - lt. john - and john ezekiel nichols b. 1814 bedford, va.

i thought at first that maybe arch was the father, but there are no sources to back that up. john jr. had a son named john James Nichols but he moved to tenn. jesse had a son named john field nichols but he also was in tenn. it seems the only one of lt. john's sons that may be the father is elisha nichols and there is almost no sources for him either. it seems that elisha married the daughter of his uncle flayl jr., but very little is known beyond that. he had a son named elisha christopher and a daughter, but there are no connections to john 1814. elisha could be the father of john but who knows? maybe. maybe not. how can someone live his whole life and never be recorded in anything.

the one thing for sure about john ezekiel nichols is that he is not john m nichols who married sarah richardson. those two johns are in different states in 1860 with children. where was john e between 1814 and 1860??? inquiring minds want to know....

my family mystery. my brick wall is still unbroken. my invisible ancestor and his unknown parents. although DNA says for sure that my bloodline is the same as Lt. John Nichols, it's still unclear how we connect.

pretty sure at this point that Elisha may be the missing link in this inquiry, but still no sources.(((

Does your tree make sense?

Keep in mind that not every bit of information you find on your relative or ancestor is going to be true. Some people copy others without checking their facts and some people will copy you too. For this reason alone, due diligence is a must have in any tree. If you are not a thousand percent certain that a relationship is right say so.
If your fifth great grandfather was born in 1776 and his mother was born in 1770 you may have gotten some bad intel. And if his father died two years before he was born, he may not be the father, Luke.
If his father was born in another state and never moved or if he was in a different county his whole life, he may not be the father. And if he is not the father, was his wife really the mother. Circumstantial evidence is not admissible in court and should not be writ in stone on your tree either.
Just because five of your cousins on Ancestry listed Ben as the father of Luke or Luke as the father of Rey does not mean it is so. Do your detective work and confirm beyond a reasonable doubt that the tree is accurate or at least note any facts that are not confirmed. Keep in mind that others will not do the leg work and will copy you and your sixth great grandson may want to do the family tree for his grandchildren and may not be able to find the proof as easily as you can now.
Be the late night family detective your future generations need and leave no stones unturned. Think I have covered all the bases on this subject but let me finish with one more example.
Everyone on ancestry had assumed that my elder John Nichols was the son of Isaac and Rhoda Bond Nichols because they were in the same county he was born in, but it turned out with a lot of homework that Isaac and Rhoda had a son the same year that John was born and also, they did not have any sons named John at all.
Also DNA evidence proved that John and Isaac were two different bloodlines as they had different Y DNA haplogroups and so could not be related at all. John was actually a member of another line of Nichols who lived in Bedford County and was related to John Nichols who moved to Bedford from Maryland. He and John had the same Y DNA and so were related as sons inherit their Y DNA from their fathers so therefore Isaac was not related to John but John was.
Turns out that John's son, Arch had a son named John, of course his brother John did too, but not in the same time frame or location. But that is another story. While one researcher had taken an educated guess and gotten the bloodline wrong, others had copied their info and gotten their lines wrong too. And after having spent months and months researching Isaac's family, DNA proved that Isaac was NOT the father, as Maury would say.
On a side note, Isaac is actually related to me through a relatives marriage to my Hatcher line, so the research I ended up doing was not in vain at all, and I found some pretty cool relatives of Rhoda Bond in the process.
Rhoda had a relative who was scalped in a battle with Native Americans during Black Hawk's War, and was one of the bodies found the next day by Abraham Lincoln's unit. His name was James Bond, and I found him while researching Rhoda's tree. Just having a James Bond in the tree makes it worth the work.
Back to topic. Do your homework. Don't copy. And if you can use DNA to confirm where possible.
By the way, if you read my earlier posts about Isaac and Rhoda's families and them being ancestors, I was wrong about them. #update.
Keep climbing trees and breaking through walls. The fruit is worth the labor.
Peace.

EOIN MACNICOL OF THE CLAN MACNICOL

EOIN AKA JOHN MACNICOL of the Highland Clan MacNicol may be a direct ancestor through my paternal line and it is believed that my YDNA is directly descended from MACNICOL CLAN CHIEFS as it is highly probable that most of the MacNicol clan is descended from the first chief of the clan hy tradition...

Having found a profile created on Geni.com I was surprised to learn that the whole world tree has already linked me to him through my Grant line,,,,  and in only about 21 generations... could JOHN MACNICOL be my 21st great grandfather?.. the world may never know.....

THE MACNICOL CLAN OF SCOTLAND

My Y DNA goes back to the MacNicol Clan of Scotland which means that part of me is a highlander. At some point in time someone in the clan changed their last name and one of their descendants, probably Simon Nicholls moved to Maryland and was my immigrant ancestor. That is my story and i am sticking to it...

MACNICOL CLAN OF SCOTLAND

According to various traditions, the MacNeacails once had possession of Lewis before losing their lands to the MacLeods through the marriage of a MacNeacail heiress.[7] In the 17th century, John Morison of Bragar stated as much when he wrote: "... Macknaicle whose onlie daughter Torquill the first of that name (and sone to Claudiusthe sone of Olipheous, who likewise is said to be the King of Noruway his sone,) did violentlie espouse, and cutt off Immediatlie the whole race of Macknaicle and possessed himself with the whole Lews ...".[7][8] Similarly, the garbled Bannatyne Manuscript indicates that the MacNeacails held Lewis from the Kings of Mann, and that the clan's possession of the island terminated though the marriage of an heiress to a MacLeod. The manuscript also states that a branch of the MacNeacails held Waternish on Skye before the MacLeods. Other traditions associate the MacNeacails with the mainland in Assynt and Coigach; the ruins of Caisteal Mhic Neacail ("MacNeacail's Castle") near Ullapool may well corroborate these links.[7] . Producing a description of Assynt to accompany the Statistical Account of 1794, Rev William Mackenzie drew upon a local tradition that the district had been granted by the Thane of Sutherland to one 'MacKrycul', in recognition of his service against Viking cattle-raiders. The local belief that MacKrycul was the 'potent man' from whom the MacNicols descended is seemingly backed up by the MS. 1467, in which the first of two Nicails - living approximately in the mid-twelfth century - is listed as the son of 'Gregall'.
The History of the MacDonalds may well refer to a member of the clan, when it states that a "MacNicoll" was killed on North Uist by Olaf the Red. Olaf ruled the Kingdom of the Isles until his death in 1153. Since the reference to MacNicoll appears after an account of Godfrey Donn, during an episode which took place in about 1223, the story of MacNicoll's death may actually refer to Olaf the Black, rather than his grandfather Olaf the Red. Another tradition which may refer to the MacNeacails concerns the coat of arms of the MacLeods of Lewis. In the 17th century, the Earl of Cromartie recounted the traditional explanation of the arms: that the Kings of Norway had the MacLeods man two beacons, one on Lewis and one on Skye, to guide the king's ships safely through the islands. Since the MacLeods appear to have gained Lewis long after the Hebrides was incorporated into the Kingdom of Scotland, the tradition may well refer instead to the MacNeacails. If this is the case, then the MacLeods of Lewis not only inherited their lands from the MacNeacails, but also aspects of their heraldry.[7] The actually heraldry borne by the medieval clan is, however, unknown.[9]

MDLP K16 Modern Admixture Proportions

MDLP K16 Modern Admixture Proportions

The K16 model of Admixture K16 focuses primarily on 16 worldwide basic, distich components of modern human ancestry, which have been discovered and detailed in Haak et al. (2014), Lazaridis et al. (2016). These components were empirically 'learned' in ADMIXTURE software from allele frequencies of learning merged dataset (116463 SNPs) of human populations, which, in their turn, had been converted into 'synthetic groups of individuals', with each of them representing one (of 16) ancestral populations. Then, the rest of dataset ('reference') was projected unto those ancestral populations with SNPWEIGHTS software: the results of component projection were averaged per each modern group of human population, and taken as 'population reference values' of component membership in 2xOracle and OracleX4.

These 16 component are briefly described below as follows:
Amerindian - a component, which is modal (i.e has a peak) in various native American groups of North and South America, as well as in ancient DNA of Native Americans (Clovis, Kennewick man, etc).
Ancestor - an archaic component, detected in modern African Pygmy populations (such as Mbuties and Biaka) and Khoisan hunter-gatherers.
Steppe - a component which was sourced from ancient genome of European Bronze Age pastoralists: it roughly approximates levels of ancient North Eurasian hunter-gatherers' heritage, which was subsequently shown to have an influence in later eastern hunter-gatherers and to have spread into Europe via an incursion of Steppe herders beginning Ă¢Ë†¼4,500 years ago.
Indian - a component of ancestry harboured by populations of Indian subcontinent
Arctic - a component displayed in genomes of Eskimo Inuits from Greenland and shared with Siberian Chukchis/Koryaks.
Australian - a component of aboriginal ancestry assigned to Australian aborigens.
Caucasian - a major component of ancestry of modern inhabitants of Caucasus, Iran and northern Indian : it was derived from genomes of mesolithic Caucasian Hunter-gatherers: a major ancestral component linked to CHG was carried west and east by migrating herders from the Eurasian Steppe.
EastAfrican - a very dilluted component being inherited specififically from ancient inhabitants of Ethiopia and African Horn
NorthEastEuropean - a fancy moniker for a dominant type of ancestry in North-Eastern Europe based on older type of ancestry (WHG, west European Hunter-Gatherer), today this type of ancestry peaks in the Baltic region and Scandinavia
NearEast - a component harboured and later carried by ancient populations of Near East, in our time it reaches the maximum among Bedoins and Saudi Arabians; the component seems to carry an excess of Eurasian Basal component relative to Neolithic component.
Neolithic - a component, modeled on genomes of first neolithic farmers of Anatolia (West Asia), these farmers from West Asia migrated to Europe during the Neolithic and carried this component with them.
NorthAfrican - a local component of ancestry found in North Africans: this local North African genetic component is very different from the one found in the populations in the south of the Sahara (Subsaharian component, see below).
Oceanic - a component of aboriginal ancestry assigned to aborigens of Melanesia and Papua-New-Guinea.
Siberian - a component, which is rougly ascribed to Central Siberian (found at highest frequency in Nganasan)
SouthEastAsian - a dominant component of South East Asians: being highest among the Dai, Cambodians, Lahu and Malay, this is the most common East Asian component among South Asians.
Subsaharian - a main component of ancestry seen in Yoruba, Mandenka and Luhya populations.
