Catchy title right? Anyway, I have to make a note here that I have to change my tree due to DNA evidence that I am NOT descended from Thomas Nichols and Mary Ludford or William Nichols and Sarah Spencer or Isaac Nichols and Rhoda Bond, and I know this because my YDNA results are different from them. So ignore previous posts about them made here as they are only cousins now and not direct ancestors....
The Thomas Nichols line is a whole other line from mine and that is all there is to say about it.
My YDNA haplogroup appears to be R-CTS1751 which makes me a descendant of Captain John Nichols of the Maryland Militia who fought in the American Revolution and the French and Indian War. John married Martha Payne and his son Archibald is my ancestor. Arch married four women but I think his son John M Nichols is the son of Mary Polly Updike or Judith Hatcher, depending on when he was born. Arch married Polly in 1819 so if John was born that year his mother would be Polly, however, the 1860 Census says that John M Nichols was born in 1814 which would make him the son of Judith Hatcher. Its all a matter of time...
Anyway, thats the latest news on the tree climb and now I have to go back and change all the trees I made online to reflect it... DNA dont lie and the hunt never ends...
Keep climbing and cite those sources....
