Earl Nichols, my Kentucky cousin is one of my DNA matches on FTDNA.
He traces his lineage back to Simon Nicholls of Maryland too.
Another DNA match connects to the MacNicol Clan on the Isle of Skye in Scotland. Meaning we are all probably Highlander adjacent.
Simon Nicholls was probably born in England, or maybe Scotland, and is believed to be the son of Simon. He was an immigrant and came to America before the Revolution and settled in Maryland where he was the town crier. Records say he was arrested once in Maryland for being drunk in public and was put in the stockades.
Simon or Symon was born about 1642 and reportedly lived to be 106 years old. He died in 1749 in Prince George's County in Maryland.
Simon married Jane or Anne Edmonston (another Scottish family) and had about six children. They married in Anne Arundel County, Maryland, where their son Thomas was born. The other five children were born in Prince George's County.
