Bounty Land Warrant of John Nichols BLWt1474-100 VA

I Catharine Pollard (formerly Catharine Nichols) daughter and one of the heirs at law of John Nichols deceased do upon oath testify and declare to the best of my knowledge and belief that John Nichols did enlist in 1778 for the term of during the war and served in Regiment Number six, under the command of Colonel [Mordecai] Buckner of the Virginia continental line, and that he continued in the service aforesaid until the close of the war. I further declare that I have never received from the United States a warrant for the bounty land promised to the said John Nichols on the part of the United States, nor do I believe that he ever received it, or transfered his claim to it in any manner whatsoever, Therefore Know all men by these presents, that I Catharine Pollard aforesaid do hereby constitute and appoint Leroy Jordan to be my true and lawful attorney for me and in my name, to demand and receive from the Secretary of War of the United States, a warrant for the quantity of land due to me as aforesaid, and my said attorney is hereby fully authorized & empowered to constitute and appoint one or more attorneys under him for the special purposes above expressed.

Catharine Pollard of lawful age being duly sworn says, that she has never received from the State of Virginia any bounty land on account of services rendered by her father John Nichols who was a soldier of the 6th regiment of the Virginia line on continental establishment during the revolutionary war, neither has any other person or persons claiming as heirs to the said John Nichols so far as this deponent knows or believes, neither did the said John Nichols ever receive it during his lifetime to the knowledge of this deponent. neither has this deponent ever sold, assigned or in any was disposed of her claim and further saith not [1 June 1830]

I do certify that I was acquainted with John Nichols in the revolutionary war, that he served in the 6th regiment and that he continued in the said service until the final close of the war, and I further certify that he served in the Virginia continental line. Given under my hand this 3d day of June 1830
